Data lead
Build and steward open data foundations as a public good, starting with Residential Open Data.
We are building a suite of open data specifications, starting with Residential Open Data. You will steward the specifications, public repositories and shared tools that make this foundation useful to everyone. Our approach is to define the blueprints, publish reference tools and implement them to provide a dependable service. Anyone else can build their own tools and services on the same foundation. You will be hands-on with AI tooling to build the index and ingestion capabilities, while helping a community of contributors build connectors, improve the tools and extend what people can achieve together.
What you will do
- Steward a suite of open data specifications as a public good, starting with Residential Open Data. Make them clear, practical, versioned in public and usable independently of Beautiful.
- Maintain public repositories with useful blueprints, reference implementations, sample tools and documentation. Help people move from understanding a specification to building something that works.
- Use AI tooling to build and operate the open-data index and ingestion capabilities. Make discovery, ingestion, validation and updates reusable so others can run, extend and improve them.
- Make data trustworthy and useful through clear meaning, provenance, freshness and quality. Respect publishing permissions and keep private information outside the open data foundation.
- Build a community of people creating connectors and tools. Help contributors get started, review contributions, answer questions and turn shared needs into improvements everyone can use.
- Support independent implementations. Help others build on the specifications without needing a Beautiful account or depending on our hosted service.
- Put the open foundations to work in Beautiful's services and feed what we learn back into the specifications and shared tools. Earn adoption through the quality of the service and the usefulness of the commons.
You might be right for this if
- You have built data systems that ingest, organise and make changing information useful. You care about meaning and provenance as much as performance and scale.
- You can turn a messy domain into clear specifications and practical tools without making either harder to use than necessary.
- You are AI native and hands-on. You use AI tooling to build, test and ship capabilities while taking responsibility for their quality and operation.
- You understand stewardship: listen carefully, make decisions in public and help a shared foundation succeed beyond your own implementation.
- You enjoy helping other builders succeed. You can explain an idea, support a contributor and bring people together around useful work.
- You can show how your work has helped people build on shared data, connect systems or achieve goals they could not reach before.
You can be based anywhere in the world.
