CUSTOMER CASE STUDY · PRE-LAUNCH
Rentiful is building a personal rep for renting.
Jonathan Greensted, Founder of Rentiful and Beautiful / / 🖋️ Signed
Rentiful v3 introduces Lisa✨, a personal rep built to help renters find, secure and enjoy their perfect home. Rentiful builds and operates the rental service. Beautiful provides sector-agnostic identity, communications, agent-execution and trust infrastructure that Rentiful is preparing to consume as a customer.
Rental systems represent properties. Rentiful represents the renter.
Search, availability and leasing processes are principally built around property-side workflows. The listing is the unit, the landlord or the agent is the customer, and the software is organised around filling a property rather than housing a person.
A renter meets that system as a series of disconnected steps: a portal, a form, an enquiry, a viewing request, a reference check, a contract. Each step starts again from nothing. Nothing carries the renter's preferences, constraints or history forward, so the person doing the most work in the transaction is the only party with nobody working for them.
A renter needs one continuing rep across the journey, not a new form or an impersonal chatbot at every step.
Ask Lisa✨
Lisa✨ is Rentiful's personal rep for renting. The Ask Lisa experience is the renter-facing entry point: where a renter meets their rep and the rental journey begins.
Rentiful owns and operates that rental journey: the Rentiful proposition and brand, renter experience, rental-domain data and logic, property and supply relationships, Lisa✨'s rental-specific playbooks and the workflows that take a renter from search through viewing, application, lease and tenancy.
Beautiful performs a different role. It develops and operates general-purpose infrastructure for identity and access, communications, controlled agent execution, policy enforcement, signed records and trusted time. Those services are designed to be consumed through published interfaces by independent applications in different sectors, of which Rentiful is the first intended commercial customer.
The intended relationship is supplier and customer. Rentiful operates the renting business. Beautiful operates the infrastructure business.
| Rentiful operates | Beautiful supplies |
|---|---|
| Ask Lisa✨ and the renter relationship | Identity and access infrastructure |
| Rental-domain conversations and continuity | Communications infrastructure |
| Property supply, matching and the rental journey | General-purpose agent execution and policy controls |
| Rental-specific playbooks, decisions and workflows | Generic execution capabilities and Guard |
| Viewings, applications, leases and tenancy outcomes | Signed records, verification and Beautiful Time |
The intended service boundary between the two businesses.
Beautiful does not operate Rentiful's rental proposition or its property and supply relationships. Rentiful does not operate Beautiful's general-purpose infrastructure service.
The table describes the intended service boundary. Rentiful v3 is not yet live on the Beautiful-backed path and no row should be read as claiming a production deployment that has not happened.
Who does what
- Rentiful operates the renter-facing renting business: proposition, renter experience, rental-domain data and logic, supply relationships, rental workflows and commercial outcomes.
- Lisa✨ is the rep for the renter within that business.
- Beautiful provides general-purpose infrastructure that Rentiful is preparing to consume and that is designed for other independent applications.
- Beautiful does not operate Rentiful's rental business or represent Rentiful's renters.
- Rentiful is designed to consume Beautiful through defined infrastructure interfaces rather than treating Beautiful as an internal Rentiful application module.
Representation changes the direction of the journey.
A rep works for the renter. It acts within the renter's explicit authority, preferences and constraints, and its job is the renter's outcome rather than any particular property's occupancy.
That is a direction, and directions have consequences. A rep that quietly optimised for a property, an advertiser or a commercial partner at the renter's expense would not be a rep, whatever it was called. Authority has to be explicit, scoped and withdrawable, and the record of what was done under it has to be checkable afterwards by the person it was done for.
Authority is also a limit rather than a slogan. Lisa✨ will do what the deployed runtime permits and enforces, and nothing beyond it. Where an action carries real consequence, the enforcement sits outside the model, in policy and in signed records, not in a promise about good behaviour.
From the founder
Rentiful's job is renting. Beautiful's job is infrastructure. Lisa✨ and the rental journey belong to Rentiful; Beautiful supplies the general-purpose identity, communications, execution and trust services underneath. The same infrastructure is intended to support many independent applications beyond renting.
Launching soon
Rentiful v3 is preparing to introduce Lisa✨. The first deployment is designed to prove a simple but important behaviour: a renter can have a rep that stays with them through the rental journey.
It will also be the first production test of the commercial relationship between the two businesses: Rentiful consuming managed infrastructure supplied by Beautiful.
We will say more when there is more that is true. Until the public Ask Lisa flow genuinely reaches Lisa✨ through the Beautiful-backed path, this page says launching soon and means it.

The signature is made with a software key that Beautiful holds. It proves these exact words came from this publishing identity and have not changed since. A hardware-backed key would add one thing on top: proof that the key itself could not have been copied. That is the upgrade in progress, and this line will say so when it is done.
