What this does not prove
- It does not prove the person in the byline typed the words. The publishing rep signed the record, and the byline is part of what it signed.
- It does not prove this is the latest version. A version chain can be truncated by whoever hands it to you, so a newer version may exist that this copy cannot see.
- It does not prove who holds the key. Cryptography can say a signature came from a key, never who was sitting at the keyboard.
How the key is held
The signature is made with a software key that Beautiful holds. It proves these exact words came from this publishing identity and have not changed since. A hardware-backed key would add one thing on top: proof that the key itself could not have been copied. That is the upgrade in progress, and this line will say so when it is done.
Storage class: Software key in a file. We report it rather than prove it: a key cannot attest to how it is held, so take this as our statement and not as something the signature establishes.
